Vance Olivier
Chief of Police
Chief Vance Olivier has over 32 years of Law Enforcement experience. He began his career at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Department in February 1990. In November of 1995 he began working with the Lafayette Police Department until 2021. He is a graduate of the Acadiana Law Enforcement Academy.
During tenure with the Lafayette Police Department, Vance had the opportunity to serve in various divisions such as Field training, canine, recruiting, and Criminal investigations. Having been promoted to Sergeant, he supervised the canine unit. Once Vance attained the rank of lieutenant, he managed the Criminal Investigations Unit, which consisted of both Property and Crimes against persons, and served as Watch Commander. He has also successfully completed the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association trilogy management course, in addition to other training classes. Additionally, Vance also served as a SWAT Tactical Operator and Negotiator.
Chief Olivier is a resident of Broussard and is married to Simone. They two daughters Julia, and Gabrielle.
